Notification - change in Lufthansa Cargo process

Commodity Embargo Notice - VIVO products containing Lithium Batteries

Following the reports of an incident at Hong Kong Airport unrelated to our operations and pending investigations by the authorities, Lufthansa Cargo is following the actions of the involved carriers and has decided to take the following precautionary temporary measure until further notice. With immediate effect, the below commodities are not allowed for direct or indirect carriage as airfreight on board of any flights operated by Lufthansa Cargo and/or Lufthansa, Austrian or Brussels Airlines:

  • All VIVO products containing Lithium Batteries (ion and metal) from
    Vivo Mobile Communication Co. Ltd or
    Vivo Communication Technology Co. Ltd.

We are in constructive exchange with the responsible authorities for further steps.


As our valued business partner, we ask for your understanding regarding this matter and ask you to refrain from accepting any shipment with the above commodities when using our services. Meanwhile, we would like remind you that the Dangerous Goods regulations must be strictly adhered to at all times.

As per the Lufthansa Cargo safety policy, in case of any occurrences due to non-compliance with regulations an embargo may be imposed on the concerned agent with immediate effect and until further clarification.

Please note that violating or ignoring the above may also be considered as an act of gross negligence which may entail consequences in terms of liability and responsibility.
